Choosing appropriate books for young readers is a responsibility we take very seriously.
All of our children's books are chosen with some important considerations.
1) The books must be age appropriate.
We ask for the age of each child  in order to pick books that are closest to their reading level. If a child's reading level is above or below their age group, just let us know and we can adjust the books to be a better fit.

2) The books must not contain controversial subjects which may be inappropriate.
All books sent are fiction. No "How-to" books are ever sent (i.e. "How to deal with peer pressure about xyz").

3) Consider the gender of the child when appropriate.
We watch for books that are aimed to please a certain gender and try not to send them to those that may not be pleased. An example would be "Little House on the Prairie" which may be ideal for an 11 year old girl but may not be the best choice for an 11 year old boy.
Here are some book examples from our list of favorites. We can't guarantee that a given subscription will get these exact books as our supplies are always changing. They are shown here to provide you with a sense of what we look for when choosing our selections for the different reading levels.
